The goal of this process is to reduce the amount of time taken to harvest many small cuttings such as borage flowers or nepitella stems. To increase harvest speed, multiple cuttings can be held in one hand before placing into the container. Cut and hold as many items as you can SAFELY without damaging the crop. Violas and borage, for instance, are delicate, and it may be difficult to cut and hold more than five flowers at a time.

  1. With shears in one hand and the target flower or sprig in the other hand, cut the stem.
  2. While holding the cutting, reposition onto a different target sprig and repeat.
  3. Place cuttings into container.
