Shifting Microgreen germination trays to flood and drain system

  • Survey available space
  • Consolidate space to make room for new crops
  • Germinator flood and drain systems  have two positions per shelf
  • During the space consolidation, update the new position in database Batches> Main View by linking it to new position and unlinking the old position
  • Once the space has been consolidated, take the germination batches out of the solid white tray and placed gently into the system
  • Make sure that the flood height does not exceed the height of the growing medium, this will cause the seeds to clump together and grow irregularly
  • Keep the humidity dome on if seedlings haven’t yet shown true leaves
  • All available Flood and Drain system space should be filled out at all times (to reduce the amount of hand watering)

Highlights:

  • Remove the solid white tray from the germination tray and place gently into system
  • Check to make sure flood height does not exceed the growing medium and update the new positions in database
  • Remove humidity dome if leaves have sprouted; keep it on if no sprouting

Shifting NFT Rails  on Same Shelf Level

 

  • Close the feedline using the white clip and remove it from the rail
  • Clear obstructions on/off the rack in the path of the rail before shifting
  • Detangle from other plants on adjacent rails if needed
  • After the rail has been moved, reattach a new feed line, unclip it completely and move the clip an inch away
  • Adjust the pinched line to make sure there is good water flow and no bottle neck
  • Spot check all feed lines on the entire NFT rack to ensure that every rail has flowing water. (Make small adjustments to red pressure knob if necessary)
  • Delete the old position and search via rail number and link as new position (SS) and open position to link it with the equipment number (SS)

Shifting NFT Rails to Different Rack

 

  • Close the feed line using the clip on the rails that needs to be moved
  • Check to make sure there are no obstructions on/off the rack in the path of the rail
  • Detangle from other plants on adjacent rails if needed
  • Elevate the rail slightly to assist drainage of all excess water before removal
  • Prepare to catch the full weight of the rail and plants once it leaves the return trough
  • Keep the rail level while moving so that water doesn’t pour out onto plants below. (If the rail is especially messy, place solid garden trays on the light rack underneath to catch any debris)
  • Attach a new feed line, unclip the feed line completely and move the clip an inch away
  • Adjust the pinched line to make sure there is good water flow
  • Spot check all feed lines on BOTH NFT racks to ensure that every rail has flowing water. (Make small adjustments to red pressure knob if necessary)
  • Delete the old position and search via rail number and link as new position (SS) and open position to link it with the equipment number (SS)
